Nikon Unveils the 12.1 Megapixel D700 Digital SLR

Nikon on Tuesday introduced the 12.1 megapixel D700 digital SLR, providing professional photographers better low light performance and accurate color reproduction.
The D700 features the Nikon FX format CMOS sensor, the EXPEED Image Processing System, Nikon's 51-point auto focus system with 3D Focus Tracking and two Live View shooting modes that allow photographers to frame a shot using the camera's three-inch high-resolution LCD monitor.
With an ISO range of 200 to 6400 the D700 also includes Nikon's Scene Recognition System and a new active dust reduction system.
The D700 features Nikon's first self-cleaning system designed for the FX-format sensor. The cleaning system uses four distinct vibration frequencies to free dust particles at startup, shutdown or on demand.
The camera includes a start-up time of 0.12 seconds and a shutter lag response of 0.40 milliseconds.
Users also have the option to use Nikon's Picture Control System, which enables you to adjust images to preset parameters such as Standard, Neutral, Vivid and Monochrome. The presets apply tweaks to image sharpening, tone compensation, brightness, overall tone and saturation.
The Nikon D700 digital SLR will be available in July for US$2,999।95.
